On 21-24 November we had the pleasure of spending time with members in Taipei, for the Morison Global Asia Pacific conference. Delegates from across the region, and beyond, came together to learn, share knowledge and insights, with an overall focus on building value for their firms, and the association.
We were honoured to welcome a number of special guest speakers including Frank Lee from the Taipei CPA Association who welcomed everyone to Taipei, Chiang Song Wei (Katherine Harniess) and Joanne Weng from Synology Inc who spoke about data protection in the age of AI, and Professor Yin Ying Chien who led an insightful session on e-invoicing.
We had the privilege of welcoming Janice Wang, HR and Career Consultant to speak and deliver an interactive workshop on the strategies to manage mental health in the workplace – an important topic for businesses today. This session provided delegates with lots of ideas and insights to take back to their firms.
As always, delegates enjoyed hearing from each other in a variety of member-led presentations, fireside chats and panel sessions, on a range of topics, but with the underlying theme of how they are building value in their firms.
Delegates also heard from CEO, Ryan Piper, who shared a roundup of the Association’s plans and initiatives. Ryan led a strategy workshop which allowed members the opportunity to share their ideas, insights and observations on how to drive the association forward. Tax and audit breakout sessions took place which included interactive and engaging member discussions on tax led by Chok Wei Hong and Stefan Huang, and an audit roundtable discussion led by Ryan Piper.
In addition to the professional sessions, as always delegates enjoyed a lively and fun networking programme. Delegates enjoyed dinner at one of Taipei’s well-known restaurants - Shin Tung Nan Seafood, where local dishes and delicacies were sampled. A whole day was dedicated to networking while exploring the vibrant city of Taipei. Delegates visited the National Palace Museum, followed by an exceptional lunch at the Ambassador Hotel, and then were treated to sampling tea at a local tea house.
On the final evening delegates watched the sunset from the famous Taipei 101, one of the tallest buildings of the world, but it didn’t end there…in true Asia Pacific style, we enjoyed a gala dinner in the Grand Ballroom at the Grand Hyatt where delegates were treated to a Chinese banquet meal, lots of music and entertainment.
Once again, it was great to see our members together, building on the deep connections and friendships they have with each other – this is a core part of Morison’s DNA and what makes us so special. Thanks to our fantastic host firm WeTec International CPAs who provided excellent organisational support for the conference. Thanks to all our speakers and panel members - you provided invaluable insights and ideas for us to take back to our firms.
Lastly, thanks to all our members that participated in Taipei - your contribution and energy in the sessions was fantastic!
